The girls have had a rollercoaster finish to the season – which ended in glory at the Quickline League Cup, following a very close loss at the U14’s County Cup the week before.

The U14’s County Cup Final

The County cup final was a superb weekend. Playing against Stamford girls, a JPL team, was always going to be tough. But the girls stood up to the challenge, taking a 3-2 lead at half time – they were on top of the world having put their heart and soul into the game.

A resilient performance second half, ended the game at 3-3 and took them into extra time. The girls left everything on the pitch – but unfortunately the win wasn’t to be and the game finished 3-4 in extra time with a very well taken goal. The FA described the match as “one of the most entertaining finals in recent memory”. A great occasion and the girls did themselves and their supporters proud!

The U14’s Lincolnshire Women and Girls Quickline League Cup

The following week was the Lincolnshire Women and Girls Quickline League Cup. Another great occasion and despite recovering from the previous week’s disappointment, the girls once again showed their grit and determination to find an outstanding performance – winning the cup 4-1! An outstanding match with four different goal scorers.

A terrific day and well deserved winners – the girls played amazingly throughout, really showing their quality. It has taken them eight years to win a major league trophy and they certainly did it in style. What a great finish to the season – we’re all so very proud of them, well done!
