After several personal training sessions at Warriors Gym Barton with Sean Blackburn, a British, European and World Record Holder in Bench Press- Matt decided to aim for competitive power lifting.

British Power lifting Federation (BPF) seemed a natural fit and in March 2024 Matt made his debut at “Mayhem in Boston” event in Boston, Lincs.

There, he won 1st place in his category and set a new British Record with a spectacular 180kg bench Press, which qualified him for the British Championships in Coventry in May 2024.

With another 1st place win at The British Championships, Matt qualified for both the Welsh Fitness Expo (June) and the BPF/WPU World championships in November and walked away as a BPF British Champion.

While the Welsh Fitness Expo did not result in a new title for Bench Press, Matt did achieve a personal best with 227.5kg (500.5lbs) in Deadlift. This accomplishment brought a triumphant end to the day and added to Matt’s impressive competitive record.

Currently, Matt is preparing to compete in the BPF/WPU World Championships at Coventry Rugby Club on November 10th

All of us at Grayton wish Matt every success in his quest to become World Champion!
