The girls have truly played their socks off this season and coming 2nd in the league is a great improvement from last year’s performance. The Belles had a great season and really pushed for the top spot – but a couple of dropped points around Christmas ultimately cost them winning the league.
However, the stats are impressive: 16 wins, over 80 goals scored and 31 conceded. The girls worked really well as a team this year and are determined more than ever to claim that top spot in the league in 2024/25.
Their achievements don’t stop there. In the county cup, the Belles made it to the quarter final and in the Quickline Challenge cup they made it to the semi-finals – again some great football played and with such a small squad, the girls showed real determination.
During the summer, the Belles played in 5 different tournaments, reaching the finals in all but one –while winning the Hessle tournament.
In one memorable tournament – the Tickhill, which is a mix of grassroots, JPL and academy teams, the girls represented themselves really well, finishing 3rd in the league, which qualified them for the Academy Cup Finals. The girls did well to reach the semi-finals in this challenging tournament, but unfortunately the Chesterfield Academy outplayed them, beating them 3-0. However, the tournament was a great experience for the squad and we are so proud of the girls who had some really tough opposition.
The Dale Park Belles have a great squad, who thoroughly enjoy their football and are a great set of friends. The team regularly receive compliments from other teams about ‘how together’ the team are on and off the pitch – and it’s true, they are always looking out for each other.
With the new season fast approaching and 3 new players joining the squad, we are really excited to see where the upcoming season takes them. Well done to the girls and everyone involved!
